BLUE Tapestry was born with the
collaboration of Maartin Allcock, Pete Zorn, and Neil Marshall. It's remarkable
since we first announced the idea, just how many people out there LOVE Joni
and CK. It seems Blue and Tapestry sit in more record collections than we could
have imagined and everyone has great memories of the era in which both albums
came out. Isn't that the beauty of music? It can take you back instantly to
a time and a place that otherwise might have remained dormant. Besides that,
these are great songs and the proof is always in the test of time and the rediscovery
by Artists thirty years on - You've got a Friend, I Feel the Earth Move, Natural
Woman, Carey, Big Yellow Taxi have all been covered in the last few years.
PETE Zorn has a track record to
rival that of any thoroughbred racehorse! From Phoenix, Arizona he has played
with the likes of Richard Thompson, Gerry Rafferty, and Barbara Dickson
Pete also played on Chris's solo album, 'In the Big Room' and went on to be
a member of the band that toured with her. There's no end really to Pete's musical
talents as he plays just about most instruments but for Blue Tapestry we will
likely be seeing him play Bass, Sax, Percussion and Backing Vocals.
MAARTIN Allcock Likewise, Maart's
CV is an illustrious one. A former member of both Jethro Tull and Fairport Convention,
he has never stopped working and is rapidly becoming the most 'seen' musician
on the scene, playing with among others, Beth Nielson Chapman. I don't think
there is a Joni Mitchell chord that's ever been strummed that Maart doesn't
know and he is a long-term fan of both JM and CK. Besides being a keyboard whiz
- Maart is also one of the country's foremost Fretless Bassists. For Blue Tapestry,
he will be the lead guitarist but you will hear him play that wonderful fretless
bass. Maarts website
Gerry Conway - Again an illustrious career. He currently plays with Fairport
Convention and Pentangle. He was with Sandy Denny in the short lived but now
ledgendary Fotheringay. His name is also linked with The McGarrigle sisters
and Car Stevens. This year Gerry will be replacing Neil Marshall, our original
drummer who is currently touring the world!
"I was down at the front and the atmosphere was absolutely electric
- I was
told that this phenomenon extended right back up the hill, which is no mean
feat! Your interpretation and performance of these wonderful songs was a
delight to behold" Comment from Cropredy where BT Played to 20,000 spellbound
