Road Fever – Julie Matthews
From the album ‘Perfect Mistake’ While and Matthews

This road goes on forever, into the great beyond.
Strong coffee is cold comfort but it keeps us moving on
For a couple of hours you’re high as a kite
You step on the stage and into the light
But when you come off again careful you might get

Road Fever
Road Fever

Bad food in a road side café, swear you won’t do it again
Hard beds in cold hotels where they throw you out at ten
But for every ticket redeemed at the door
For every last person that’s shouting for more
This is the antidote if not the cure for

Road Fever
Road Fever

But I wouldn’t trade places, with anyone else in the world
I wouldn’t trade places

When the tour’s over and the bus is empty
And I’m back in my beautiful bed
And the stack of post, the bills and letters
Have all been opened and read
In a couple of weeks by the time it gets dark
My fingers get itchy to play my guitar
And before you know it, you’re longing for

Road Fever
